THE spouse of a builder funnelled a lot more than ?5,000 from her husband’s company to finance her addiction to online bingo internet sites.

Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court heard that Denise Postgate contacted clients to inquire of for re re re payments at the start and gave her individual bank-account details rather than the business banking account information.

Whenever clients attemptedto contact builder Gary Postgate – Denise Postgate’s husband – to inquire of once the work is finished, she intercepted phone telephone calls and told them their van had been broken, that family relations have been arrested, or had gone missing and in the end which he was at medical center by having a “serious and illness” that is potentially life-threatening.

Lee Poppett, prosecuting, stated three victims paid Mrs Postgate more than ?5,000, between and December 2018 october.

He said: “One complainant has understood Gary for many years and had accumulated a lot of trust with him.
